Thanksgiving...Aussie Style????

Happy Thanksgiving friends and family! So okay, I know that in the Northern Hemisphere Thanksgiving isn't officially until tomorrow, but here in the Southern Hemisphere, where they don't really celebrate it, it's November 27th, so technically where I am it's Thanksgiving. Boy are you confused, I sure am, but that truly isn't anything new, right?

Anyway we wanted to wish you all the greatest Thanksgiving, and hope that you are surrounded by the people that you love during this fun festive holiday where you celebrate all those things that you are thankful for. We also wanted to give you a taste of our first Thanksgiving in Australia...but before we do. Please note that Darran is kidnapping me this weekend for our anniversary and I have no idea where we are going. We have both been working crazy hours and are running around trying to get orders painted and shipped out before we leave that when we sat down to talk about doing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner we just didn't know when we were going to do it, unless it was like at 3 o'clock early one morning...so we improvised...welcome to Thanksgiving Aussie style.
First we pulled up to Subway...this is a big thing here, since Subway just came to town about 2 months ago. Next we walked inside and placed our order for...
2 six inch turkey subs. I got mine on wheat, Darran chose Italian. When I pulled out the camera Darran explained to the lady making the sandwiches that this was our way of celebrating Thanksgiving. She then looked and me and apologized that they were out of cranberry sauce (DANG IT! this was one of the main reasons we were going there).
So next was the toppings, and since they were out of cranberry sauce (how authentic is an Aussie Thanksgiving Turkey Sub from Subway without cranberry sauce?) I opted for cucumbers, tomato, lettuce, swiss cheese, carrots, jalapeno and spicy chili sauce. Doesn't it scream Thanksgiving??? :) Darran had what I had except with tasty cheese, onion, peppers, and olives. We then sprinted back to our house to eat them around our Thanksgiving table before Darran had to head into Melbourne for an audition.
Don't you love the decorations? My sewing machine, and other fabrics (am in the midst of working on Christmas gifts- so don't look too close) And I pulled out our fine china so we could eat our deluxe Thanksgiving Turkey Subs...what else but subway paper!
And here is me...aren't I cute....or tired...tired and cute...you choose. :) Anyway, all in all it was a VERY different Thanksgiving celebration but at least it was with Darran, and that is all that matters! Happy Turkey Day everyone!!!
