Cove Fort

We flew from Melbourne into LA and there my parents met us to drive back to Utah with us. Aren't they great? It was wonderful seeing them at the airport, it had been 18 months since I had seen my dad, and a little over a year since my mom had come out and helped us when I had my Achilles surgery. We planned on spending a couple days in LA so Darran could meet up with some Aussie actors and do some business with them for a new film he is going to be starting at the end of the year. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond his control we weren't able to meet with them, so we decided to head up to Utah.

On the way through Utah we decided to stop at Cove Fort. Now it's been a long time since I have been there and Darran has never been there so we thought it might be a fun place to stop and stretch and learn about the Fort. It didn't disappoint! We had a cute missionary couple from St. George give us the tour, which was interesting and fun, but also long and they soon lost Darran and dad for lack of interest. Which left mom and I there trying to hold on and listen to the whole tour.
It was a beautiful day at the and it was a great way to break up the long trip and experience something new! It was also fun just to spend time with family and not have to worry about time restrictions. It also got Darran thinking that he wants to build a fort on our property here in Oz. Love how he is just a big kid at heart and always wanting to build things!

The church has done such a great job in renovating the fort and the grounds and gardens around it. It was a beautiful day and we were so glad to see the sunshine!!! When we left Melbourne it was cold and rainy it was nice to escape the winter for some summer sunshine!

The rest of the trip back to my parents house was really uneventful. However in Las Vegas after riding around the entire city we learned that my mom is a Marriott snob, and couldn't or wouldn't sleep anywhere but a Marriott, which is not a bad thing! It just took us a while to find a Marriott to stay in. Darran has loved teasing my mom about being a Marriott snob, but little does she know he has become one himself!!!

I am so glad you were able to be there for such a important event! And it made me tear up to think something your Mom made for you so many years ago is still seeing some girls through their baptism's as well! What a legacy!
