T - 24 Hours

Wowie, what a whirlwind week this has been.  Can't believe that we are actually less than two days away from starting the filming of Darran's movie The Playbook.  It has been crazy busy around our house, and it's only going to get busier, so I wanted to sit down while I could and capture these moments before the bedlam begins.

Last week, we (I say we, because I am the number one cheerleader and support crew, the chef, the caterer, the listener when venting needs to be done, and the a number one wife) actually filmed some of the movie at the Melbourne Tigers (Australia's NBA) basketball game.  I was there to take stills (photos) of the night.  Which Darran has downloaded, and I can't seem to find...so once found...I'll add pictures.

There are a couple of things that I want to remember about that night.  The first is that we have incredible friends and are so truly blessed to have Tim and Sharon in our lives.  Let me explain.  The camera guy was notified a week in advance that we would be shooting this extra scene at the basketball game on the night, he was in charge of organizing the camera and getting it from the hub to the stadium at a specific time.  The cast was all told to meet at 6pm as the game started at 7:00.
We were planning on leaving our house at 3:45, as the stadium was a little over two hours away and Darran wanted to be there early and have everything set up and ready to go by start time.  At 3:30 the camera guy called to say that he couldn't go pick up the camera because something happened at home and his mom wouldn't let him go until the fix it man came to fix what ever happened.  He knew about this since 9:30 that morning, but didn't call Darran until 3:45.  To say that Darran was stressed was an understatement.

We quickly jumped in the car and thought that the only solution we had was to drive to the hub (an additional hour out of our way) to pick up the camera and then make it to the stadium.  Which would put us an hour or more behind schedule. As we drove we kept trying to think who we knew that lived nearer to the hub than we did.  I suggested Tim and Sharon.  So, Darran rang and spoke to Sharon to see if they were busy and if they would mind helping us out of this massive stressful situation.  It was Tim and Sharon's date night so Sharon said she would speak to Tim and get back to us.  Not 10 minutes later, Sharon rang back to say that they were leaving to go pick up the camera and that they would get to the stadium as soon as they could.

They got to the stadium about 30 minutes after we got there and saved us over an hours delay in starting.  Words can not express the gratitude we have for these dear friends.  They ended up staying and watching the game and seeing part of the filming for their date.  They assured me that they didn't mind and it was a fun change of pace from their regular date night activities.  What would we ever do with out these dear friends?!?!?!

Another thing I want to remember is Sharon's face when Darran told her that the camera equipment that she had picked up and transported for us was worth over $250,000.  It was priceless.  She said she was so glad she didn't know about the value until after she finished transporting it or she would have stressed out the entire way there.

A third thing I want to remember is that my husband is totally in his element on a film shoot.  It was so fun to watch him work and direct the camera guy and then the actors.  He is amazing and I can not wait to see what these next four weeks bring and what the final product looks like.  I have no doubts that it will be incredible!

A forth thing I want to remember is that I am so much more comfortable taking photos and doing my thing behind a little camera.  I had so much fun taking photos of the game, the actors, Darran at work with the camera.  I feel I got some cool pictures too (at least I think so), but again, you'll have to trust me until I can find where Darran downloaded them.

On Friday I picked up Darran's PA from the airport. Our friend Ryan flew in from Vegas to help Darran out and gain experience. You see, he is an inspiring actor who has hopes of making films one day. He had a horrendous experience coming out of customs, the poor guy, and at one point when we were waiting for over an hour for him to clear customs I thought they might actually send him home. I'm happy to report that they didn't send him home and that he has put the experience behind him and has been enjoying himself since. He has been a tremendous help for Darran this past week, and he says he has learned a lot already, so it's a win win!

Yesterday we had two more people fly in that will be apart of the movie.   So my house is filling up.  But...it's going to be really full come tomorrow when the 10 kids (plus a parent) who are on the basketball teams will be staying with us for a week.  It's going to be crazy busy, and I don't know how I'll cope with a house of 10 teen age boys, but I'm excited and looking forward to all that the week has to offer.

chockers (really) full of good food, and I am ever so grateful that Costco is in Melbourne!!!  Wish I didn't have to work, I'd much rather hang out on the film set and shoot photos.  Don't worry I'll make sure I get some photos and make time to sit down and post when I can.  It might be 3am, but there are things that I just don't want to forget!

I am so excited for my husband and know that it will be AMAZING!!! I'm off to go entertain those who are here.  Chat later! Promise!
