Here is a little snap shot of what has been going around our neck of the woods. We are two weeks into the movie and things are going great! I have many stories to tell. People say I should write a book. Some have been awe inspiring, others... full of prima-donna actors. Don't worry I'll fill you in when I get a chance to sit down and breathe.
This is Hernando Planells, the incredibly awesome sports coordinator that flew in from the States to work on the basketball sequences for the movie. He stayed at our home, has become part of the family and left last week to go back to LA to meet with Adam Sandler who he is working on another movie with. We so miss his humor and personality.
The first week of filming was basketball, basketball, basketball...and a lot of cooking for me. Catering for up to 80 people at lunch was a big feat, and I couldn't have done it all without my in-laws and a couple of wonderful friends who lived just around the corner from the basketball stadium. After early mornings, lunches, working full time, I then came home to feed the 10 extra boys that were staying at our house. Just to give you an idea of what 10 teen age boys can eat...I went through 2.5 pounds of hamburger meat and pasta and 6 loaves of garlic bread in one day. The next night 2.5 pounds of hamburger meat while they inhaled 35 tacos. Yep, teen aged boys sure know how to eat!!
The second week has been about major dramatic scenes, both in the movie and in our house with the prima-donna actor. We have had a great week with wonderful Aussie actors on set. More cooking for me, but most of the filming was happening just up the road from our house, so breakfast and lunch were served at our home, which allowed me an extra 30 minutes of sleep. We did a major night shoot on the beach last night, where we were rain delayed for about an hour, so we didn't get home until about 2am. Its been another great week, and we continue to be blessed! We have enjoyed having a quiet day at home, with the knowledge that we won't be having any one staying at our home (except our friend Ryan) for the rest of the film shoot. Looking to another fun filled two weeks of filming to go, can't believe we are half way through! More stories soon!
