New additions

I know that I haven't posted in a while and that I still need to post about the movie.  But I couldn't resist posting about our newest additions here on our little Aussie farm.  But don't worry, I will posting more about the filming of the movie soon, we were able to recover the photos on the laptop that crashed and now have a new laptop, so pictures and movie posts will be coming soon.  I just need to go through the thousand or so photos. 

Now on to our additions...toward the end of the film, I mentioned to a friend (the one that gave us our chickens) at work that one of our chickens was "clucky".  She told me that she too had a clucky chicken.   The next week she brought me in a dozen eggs to sit under our clucky girl to see if we could get some chicks to hatch.  Well, 21 days later... look what we found in the nesting box on Thursday.

We were thrilled to find out that baby number 2 hatched late Thursday afternoon.  (Number 2 is the one with the wet bottom feathers.)  Ellen (our chicken) was still sitting on 8 eggs.  Being a newbie at this whole chick hatching thing, I asked my friend how long we should keep the unhatched eggs under our chicken.  She said she usually leaves them for 24 hours after the first one hatches.  Well we decided to leave them and see what happened.  And lucky we did...because number 3 and 4 hatched on Sunday, however number 4 didn't make it.  So we are happy to say that we have 3 new chicks. Number three has yet to be photographed, as number 3 is still hiding under mamas feathers and won't come out and play with it's siblings.  Once number 3 does...don't worry, there will be more pictures. I know...you're excited!!!  We sure are!
