California & Las Vegas

The weeks leading up to our holiday were so hectic that we were really looking forward to some down time and being able to relax on our trip to America.  We had a lovely time spending the first week of our trip in Newport Beach California.  It was lovely, relaxed and we did a heck of a lot of shopping.  It was just the therapy we needed.  While we were there Darran met with a guy that is going to do the movie for the film.  It was fun to meet him and see his studio.
I loved these big snowflake lights that they had hanging from the pier.  Gotta love snowflakes!  It was getting me excited about the snow we were going to play in when we got to Utah.

It was also lovely to head down to the pier and eat at Ruby's Diner.  Their pumpkin shake was to die for!  It was especially delicious because I didn't do a pumpkin pie this year, since I would be the only one at my house that would eat it.  Hello I can still taste that divine treat!

I didn't take many pictures while we were in California.  Mainly because I was just enjoying spending time with my parents, relaxing and catching up on all the Food Network and Home Improvement Shows that I don't get to see in Australia.  We each found a new favorite show.  Mine was Say yes to the Dress, a show about wedding dress shopping of all things.  And Darran's was a show called Sons of Guns.  I was able to pull myself away to capture the setting sun.  Love the gum trees and the water.  This was the view from our condo.  Yep, pretty relaxing that's for sure!
After California, is was on to Vegas baby.  We had a blast shopping at the Primm Outlets.  Oh how I love the William Sanoma Outlet Store.  We also hit the Fashion Outlets on the other side of Vegas.  With the Aussie dollar so high, how could we not shop? :)  We stayed the night with a childhood friend of my mom's, which was fun to be in her home again.  While my mom caught up with her friend, and my dad caught up on the football.  We headed to the strip, because every trip to Vegas deserves a trip to the strip!

Boy there has been a lot of building going on since the last time I was there!  So many new hotels have cropped up! The last time we were on the strip together was before our wedding 5 years ago.  We took pictures out in front of the Bellagio then, but they were super dark.  This time I was thrilled to be able to catch the fountain out front as it danced to a Christmas song.

It's always fun to be on the strip.  The people never seem to disappoint.  Vegas is one of the best places to people watch, that is for sure.  We made our way around the strip, visited the M&M store, the lions in the MGM (too bad they had just gone to bed), watched some football at ESPN,  strolled down the plaza at Little Ceasars and saw the Christmas display at the Bellagio.  It was a fun night on the strip, and after all that walking we were ready to sleep!
